Welcome to all Rick Steves readers in Venice
On Rick Steves guide book I have 3 tours.
1) The " bar tour ":
a short walk with three stops in three bacari (typical Venetian bars) where we will drink "ombre" (glasses of wine).
In order to appreciate the wine (or better to have a good excuse to drink) in Venice we use to eat a "cicchetto" (little tapas-like morsels).
We will pretend to be locals with the combination of " ombre" " cicchetti" and a chat like Venetians use to do before dinner (or instead of). Just one stop is considered an aperitif, but three stops is the best way to eat a light dinner in a progressive pub crawl on top of meeting friends and chatting with people.
Normally the talk is about the life in Venice today, but I will try to answer to all your questions.
Venice is visited by over 20 million tourists every year, you'll find them everywhere, but I will do my best to give you the original atmosphere and experience.
WHEN 18:00 (6pm) daily, at request, with the minimum of 8 people to operate.
Price 35 euro per person (wine and food included)
2) The "offbeat ":
Rick Steves tour (euro 20/person) starts before the "bar tour". Not being a licensed city guide (and therefore unable to take you into sights), I will take you off of the beaten path where we will find many corners and spots for beautiful photos and I will try to answer to all your questions.
WHEN 16:30 (4:30pm) daily, at request, with the minimum of 8 people to operate.
Price 20 euro per person
To be more precise:
Who prefers just the bar tour pays 35 euro per person.
Who prefers just the "offbeat" pays 20 euro per person.
Who prefers to know a little more about Venice comes for both tours and pays 20 + 35 = 55 euro per person.
The "offbeat" tour is very easy, we walk very slowly and we will stop several times.
The "bar tour" is a very short walk and we will try to seat at least on the first two bars.
BOOKING POLICY I don't ask any money in advance or credit card but, If you are interested, please send me the name and the tel number (because in Venice many hotels have similar if not the same name) of your hotel in Venice, plus the day of your arrival and under which name you have booked your hotel in Venice, just in case I have to leave a message on the day of your arrival (like changing of the meeting point cause by the high water or...)
3) The "Burano-Murano tour":with public transport
After many requests of Rick Steves readers I have decided to do the "Burano and Murano" tour.
We will go first to Burano, (up to me the best island of the venetian lagoon). We will do a very nice slow walk tour (20-25 minutes) of this splendid fishermen island, with all those incredible pastel coloured houses, passing by the leaning church bell tower ( bending more then the famous Pisa Tower ) and we will end in the best Burano-laces shop with the chance to see an old lady doing the lace like centuries ago.
In Burano, free time is a must for the ladies to buy laces and souvenirs, for the professional or amateur photographer to take at least 100 pictures and, for the gluttonous to try the fragolino with the buranelli (Burano biscuits) or a gelato.
Then we will go to Murano where with onother nice slow walk we will visit a glass factory.
The tour ends at the glass factory where you'll have a chance to go for a nice restaurant
When 8:45am daily, at request, with the minimum of 4 people to operate.
Price 40 euro per person + the price of your tickets.
Since vaporetto tickets costs 7,00 euro each, make more sense to by a pass: 18 euro 12-hour, 20 euro 24-hours. If you haven't done it at your arrival we will do it that same morning.
The pass 12 or 24 hours for the island is the same for the vaporetto in town. It will give you the chance to do the Grand Canal, go to San Giorgio island and all the other island of the lagoon.
Hoping to see you soon in Venice.
Ciao e grazie
